God, I Was Wondering, Do You See Me? Do You Hear Me?

Pitch black in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma, as far as one can be from the bright lights of any city, I was commuting the usual one-and-a-half-hour drive to the big city.

In the blink of an eye, I saw a flash brighter than Fourth of July fireworks and then a ball of fire soaring toward Earth. My heart beat fast and hard; my stomach seemed to jump in my throat, “OH NO! Is this the end of the world?”

Watching to its death and then all was dark except the headlights leading me down Highway 7. The world had not come to an end.

In the silence, I waited. Sometimes when something like that happens the Holy Spirit whispers in my spirit, but not this time—silence.

What was that? Later I googled and found it! FIREBALL. Mind-blowing reading. Short answer—a meteorite. It’s a rare sight.

Sharing with my family, they each had the same question, “So what did God say?”

Go figure. Shrugging my shoulders, “Nothing, God said absolutely nothing,” fumbling for words adding, “I guess God just wanted to bless me.”

TWO MONTHS LATER after a long day in the city, heading home, this stretch of I-35 I knew like the back of my hand. Stars twinkled like diamonds in the ebony above and showcased God’s handiwork. In overwhelming God Awe I was taking it all in when I heard the familiar still small voice.

“Precious, do you remember when you were driving on this exact road, in this exact spot, SIX MONTHS AGO?  It was dark and you looked up at the sky and thought, ‘I’ve not seen a falling star in a long time.’”

“Oh, Abba Father, I forgot about that. Now that You mention it, YES, I do remember.”

“So (pause) Precious (pause), how did you like THAT falling star?”

It’s not the first time I’ve experienced the Father’s sense of humor. Don’t you think, it’s amazing to think the Creator of the Universe and everything in it, has a sense of humor? (At the same time, a visit to the zoo is quite convincing, LOL.) Anyway, grinning from ear to ear, “Abba Father, WOW, that-falling-star-fireball-was-AWESOME!”

And just like that, the atmosphere changed. It was one of those rare holy hush awe-moments. I sensed my Lord’s presence and deep love for me.

Hope Whispers, “Precious child, I want you to know that I remember your prayers; I remember the desires of your heart; I remember your dreams; I remember the fleeting thoughts you have. Precious, I even remember the ones that you forget! Yes, I remember the ones that you do not remember. I knew you’d like that falling star and wanted to make this truth memorable for you–I always remember your prayers, desires, dreams, and even your fleeting thoughts—even when you have forgotten.”
