Donned my snake boots, thick jeans, blue jean shirt and I was ready. Whoa.Wait.A.Quick.Minute. Grabbed my baseball cap, sunglasses, cell THEN headed for that mountain so beautifully framed by my bedroom window.
Crossing the street, turning right through the brush, I began navigating my way up the rocky zig-zagging path to the top. With every step, my senses fill with sights and sounds and smells and gusts of wind swirling around this jar of clay. Leaves rustle, grasses and flowers sway and dance wild and birds sing. God’s majestic creation is surely a gift to us—mere humans.
The view from the top is worth the climb. To the West the Wichita Mountains are shrouded in clouds; to the East the sun is breaking through. (This sure beats a treadmill in the gym, LOL.)
Heading down and home, sweating heavy and breathing hard, my heart is light and overflowing with gratitude. Some days are just like that. I’m thankful today is one. Don’t you just love it when that happens?
It’s my prayer you have many days where your heart is light, and when you have a hard one—pray you sense God’s care, His presence near, His peace surrounding, and His grace sufficient moment by moment. Jesus loves you with an everlasting love.
A tune starts in my mind, and I sing it in my heart (a simple song I wrote sometime back). Honestly, I haven’t mastered the art of singing while gasping for breath (insert eye roll and a giggle). But if I could, I would have sung right out loud to Jesus—my Creator, Lover of my soul and all of me.
This is a new day to sing God’s praise
This is a new day our hands to raise
This is a new day to walk in grace
Put on our faith shoes and run the race
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him” (Psalm 34:8). 🌻
